Teri Carnicelli, editor of the North Central News, was recognized last month by the Arizona School Public Relations Association with an “Award of Excellence-News Media.” The award recognized her for “consistent and accurate reporting on education.”

Carnicelli, who has been with the monthly community newspaper for more than 10 years, was nominated for the award by Carol Donaldson, director of Communications Services for the Washington Elementary School District. The nomination read, in part, “Teri … is a strong advocate for public education. She devotes space in every issue to spotlight happenings, awards, recognition and events in the public schools … In addition, Teri provides an outlet for local civic and nonprofit organizations to highlight their programs that support the children in our area.”

The Arizona School Public Relations Association is a professional organization that provides support to educators involved in school public relations, as well as professional development activities for school public relations specialists.
