Barthama is your typical hound—free-spirited, slightly stubborn and persistently exploring life with her nose to the ground. The 7-year-old Basset hound knows all sorts of tricks (some useful and others not so much) but she only performs tricks if you have a treat to offer in return. Throwing treats out in the grassy yard is one of her favorite activities and she will spend hours sniffing out every morsel of food.

She enjoys play dates with other dogs, is good with cats and is fond of kids who are old enough to throw the ball for her. She has plenty of energy to burn and would do best with an active family who enjoys exploring the great outdoors.

Meet Barthama at the Arizona Humane Society’s Sunnyslope Campus, 9226 N. 13th Ave. Her adoption fee is $110 and includes vaccinations. For more information, call 602-997-7585 and ask for animal ID number A293519. She may have been adopted by the time you visit the shelter but there are many other pets that are in need of a forever home. To see all the adoptable pets, visit azhumane.org.
