Now through Oct. 23, donate new or gently worn running shoes and receive a special 20-percent discount to register for any event in the Phoenix 10K & Half Marathon, set for Sunday, Nov. 1.

Kicks will be donated to the Mollen Foundation. Dr. Art Mollen created the Phoenix 10K in 1976, now celebrating 40 years with the goal of providing a community event that celebrated fitness and physical wellbeing.

The shoes will be distributed to underserved schools to encourage, motivate and empower children to live active and healthy lifestyles. From running shoe stores to health and fitness centers to news publications, 21 locations throughout the Valley have come together to serve as donation drop-off sites.

Visit www.phoenix10k.com to view the donation locations, which include the Runners Den at 6505 N. 16th St. and the Chris-Town Family YMCA at 5517 N. 17th Ave. Follow Phoenix10K on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram for events and more information.
