Pima Medical Institute (PMI) recently took over the space formerly occupied by Kaplan College at 13610 N. Black Canyon Highway and is enrolling for classes that begin in November.

PMI has leased the 38,000-square-foot complex for a term of 10 years. Since is was an older facility, some remodeling and upgrades were in order first, before students could be invited in.

Many of those students will come from the former Anthem College, which closed on Aug. 29, 2014 due to bankruptcy, leaving its veterinary technology students with few options for degree completion. The Arizona State Board for Private Postsecondary Education contacted PMI about its ability to teach-out the students so that they could graduate. Pima agreed and assisted more than 120 former Anthem College students in completing their veterinary technology associate degrees at the former Anthem campus. That campus will now be closed as students and staff transition to the new Black Canyon Highway location.

Enrollment at the new campus is open for classes beginning next month, including dental assistant, medical administrative assistant, medical assistant, veterinary technician and veterinary assistant. To learn more, visit http://pmi.edu/Locations/Arizona/Phoenix.
