Uptown Farmers Market has joined forces with local restaurants, chefs and C-CAP to host a Neighborhood Chef Series at the market each Saturday through January 2016.  Each week, the series will feature a different neighborhood chef with a restaurant between 7th Street and 7th Avenue. These chefs will transform seasonal Arizona products into delicious, simple tastes for the community.

“Our customers loved the chef series we organized last summer,” says Bo Mostow, Uptown Farmers Market manager. “Uptown’s main goal to inspire and educate the home cook using seasonal, Arizona products; more and more we see this is best accomplished through a personal demonstration at market, and especially from a trusted chef.”

The current lineup of visiting chefs includes: Chef Justin Beckett of Southern Rail Restaurant & Beckett’s Table, Dec. 12; Chef Paul Hamernik and Chef Aaron Chamberlin of St. Francis Restaurant, Dec. 19; and Chef Doug Robson of Otro Café on Jan. 9. Note the market will be closed on Dec. 5 for the APS Electric Light Parade, and Jan. 2 for the Fiesta Bowl Parade.

C-CAP will have students assisting the chefs with demonstration and sampling. Uptown will raffle four $50 gift certificates to the featured restaurant of the day. All products and recipes used in the chef-driven demonstrations will be highlighted on recipe cards.

Uptown Farmers Market is open 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturdays year round; and 8 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesdays, October through June. Visit www.uptownmarketaz.com.
