Flugelhorn Master Dmitri Matheny leads a new show for families: “Hot Dogs & Jazz,” set for 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17 at The Nash in downtown Phoenix.

Kids and their parents will enjoy this perfect 45-minute intro to jazz as the Dmitri Matheny Group performs a wide array of jazz styles, explores the different kinds of sounds and moods each of their instruments can produce, and shares fascinating stories about the history of American music.

Following the show, The Nash will hold prize contests for the kids, free hot dogs for everyone in the audience and a post-show meet-and-greet with the band.

Doors open at 10:30 a.m. The Nash is located at 110 E. Roosevelt St. Space is limited, reservations are recommended. RSVP at www.thenash.org. The Jazz for Kids program is sponsored by Phoenix Suns Charities.
