Uptown Farmers Market hosts its Spring Growers Market through April 2016. This seasonal market runs alongside the farmers market and acts as a “pop-up” neighborhood nursery, where you can purchase items needed to cultivate your homestead and take classes from the experts, for a $10 suggested donation.

The schedule of classes includes:

  • March 5: Top 10 Edible Trees & Top 10 Super foods with Jake Mace of Longevity Gardens, 9 a.m.; Container Gardening with Kari Spencer of The Micro Farm Project, 11 a.m.
  • March 12: Natural Pest Control with Troy Albright of True Garden, 9 a.m.; Garden Layout and Design with Christal Blessin of Kitchen & Garden Chronicles, 11 a.m.
  • March 19: Heavenly Herb Gardening with Christal Blessin of Kitchen & Garden Chronicles, 9 a.m.; Picking the Perfect Rose Bush with Anja Taschner of Ludwig’s Roses, 11 a.m.
  • March 26: Getting Started with Chickens with Kari Spencer of The Micro Farm Project, 9 a.m.; Holistic Chicken Care with Sena Kassim of vermilove.com, 11 a.m.

Uptown Farmers Market recently celebrated the first anniversary of its Uptown Wednesday Market, which runs from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. The regular Saturday market hours are 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Both markets take place in the northeast parking area of North Phoenix Baptist Church, 5757 N. Central Ave.
