The Urban Farm, 6750 N. 13th Place, hosts its annual Fruit Tree Open House Nov. 3-4 from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. See full-grown trees on North Central resident Greg Peterson’s property and learn which ones will work for your yard.

Two guided “tours” will run at 8:45 and 10 a.m. each day where people can learn from Peterson about fruit tree growing, management and pruning techniques.

More than 80 trees are growing on Peterson’s 1/3 acre, including peaches, apricots, cherries, apples, citrus, loquats, figs, pomegranates, quince and even a Black Sphinx Date Palm.

Participants will have an opportunity to place their preorders for “Urban Farm Approved” fruit trees, which can thrive in this climate. The program offers special early bird and bundle pricing through Nov. 4. The Urban Farm offers a selection of deciduous and citrus trees. Trees will be available for pickup in January and February.
