Trapp Haus BBQ, 511 E. Roosevelt St., fuses slow-smoked barbecue with urban Southern cooking.

The restaurant, set to open March 2, is owned by Phil Johnson, aka “Phil the Grill,” who has earned numerous awards from the Kansas City Barbecue Society.

Previously, Johnson ran Sammitch, a successful food truck that earned a loyal following most notably for his “Philly Crack Wings,” which are set to appear on his new restaurant menu.

There will be a variety of shareable snacks, as well as The Sammitches. Diners also can choose from classic barbecue platters with a choice of two sides, and meat by the pound.

Hours of operation are11 a.m.-7 p.m.  Tuesday through Saturday or until sold out, and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, including brunch from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, visit www.trapphausbbq.com.
