Assistance League of Phoenix will be able to provide more clothes, shoes, books and hygiene products to children in need thanks to a grant from Fiesta Bowl Charities.

The $50,000 will support the Assistance League of Phoenix’s signature program, Operation School Bell, which runs a mobile unit called the Delivering Dreams Bus. This program serves more than 8,500 students every school year. Assistance League of Phoenix was one of 44 non-profit organizations around the state that received a grant in the 2020-21 season.

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic the Assistance League of Phoenix will provide the bus outreach with safety measures in place to follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)’s recommended guidelines.

Assistance League of Phoenix teams up with more than 90 Title I schools every year for Operation School Bell. Each school can choose up to 100 children who qualify for the program, who are enrolled in the free or reduced-price lunch program. Volunteers help students find the correct sizes when they come on the bus. Every student receives new items valued at about $200 to $250.
