Hello, North Central neighbors!
It is hard to believe that we are approaching the end of 2024 – it has been quite a year and we are so grateful that you have been along for the ride with us.
On the cover this month, we explore the changes coming to the Metro District area as the iconic Metrocenter Mall finally comes down to make way for a new development: The Metropolitan. I also spoke with Mitra Khazai, executive director of the North Central-based Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix, who spoke about how the chorus “moves hearts and uplifts spirits.”
In Community, we provide an update on the proposed development at Turney and 21st Street, catch up with leadership from The Nash as the venue celebrates 12 years and newly revamped performance and education spaces, and highlight more than a dozen ways to engage with your community this month and beyond.
For this month’s Café Chat, Marjorie Rice spoke with Anthony Spinato as the family-owned and neighborhood favorite Spinato’s celebrates its 50th anniversary of serving Valley residents.
As always, you will find the Arizona Humane Society’s Pet of the Month (this month, an older gent named Tony) as well as other community, business, dining and school news, and our round-up of things to do in the Valley this month in the Arts & Entertainment section.
We hope that you enjoy our December issue and wish you all a beautiful holiday season and safe and happy New Year. Until then, all my best,
Kathryn M. Miller
