Saturday, Sept. 7, the Hilton Phoenix Tapatio Cliffs Resort played host to the city of Phoenix’s 2024 Neighborhood Synergy Conference. This is the second year that the Neighborhood Services Department (NSD) has held the event to say “thank you” to Phoenix neighborhood and Block Watch leaders, who work tirelessly to improve the quality of life in our neighborhoods.
“I envisioned an event that could accomplish three things – provide our neighborhood leaders access to information and programs to share with other neighbors; show appreciation for the work they do to improve their neighborhoods; and celebrate their wins,” said Spencer Self, NSD Director. “With the Neighborhood Synergy Conference, the Phoenix NSD, along with support and assistance from the mayor and city councilmembers, is able to deliver a meaningful event that inspires and motivates current and future neighborhood leaders to work toward positive change.”
At the event, three North Central organizations were recognized with the Community Impact Award: theHUB (Hatcher Urban Businesses) by District 3 Councilwoman Debra Stark; the Melrose Community Alliance by District 4 by Councilwoman Laura Pastor; and the East Sunnyslope Neighborhood Association and Block Watch by District 6 Councilman Kevin Robinson.
“We’re truly honored to be recognized by the city and council office for our efforts,” said Robb Olivieri, president of the Melrose Community Alliance. “It’s a testament to the hard work of our team and the vibrant community of Melrose. We’re happy to receive this award, and more excited than ever to keep the momentum going to have a bigger impact on the community.”
