North Central Phoenix’s own rockabilly band, Downhill Fast, will debut its new 4-song, 7-inch record at a high-octane performance at the iconic Rhythm Room on Saturday, Aug. 9.

Downhill Fast was the brainchild of drummer Jay Ward and guitarist Ben Cox who tapped multi-instrumentalist Rich Merriman to take control of the low end on bass and coaxed Rodd Mas to assume the vocal and rhythm guitar responsibilities, the band said. Known for their blend of rockabilly and roots rock, the band has been igniting stages across the Valley. The new record captures their raw energy and retro swagger. Fans can expect a night of foot-stomping rhythms, slick guitar riffs, and infectious vocals at the release show.

Join Downhill Fast along with Bo Peep and the Backbeat and DJ’s Tank and Woof at the Rhythm Room, located at 1019 E. Indian School Road (www.rhythmroom.com). Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8. Tickets are $12 and will be available at the door. The record will be available for purchase at the show and at www.downhillfast.net.
