As part of a project aiming to document the stories, people, places, and traditions that helped shape life for the Latino community in Phoenix from 1870 to 1980, the City of Phoenix Historic Preservation Office is hosting its second community meeting in collaboration with Westland Resources and Arizona Barrio Stories.

Residents are invited to bring their family stories, photos, documents, oral histories or anything else that would add to this effort. To gather stories and understand the properties, people, events and traditions that are important to the history of the Latino community in Phoenix, a public meeting will be held at the Washington Activity Center, 2240 W. Citrus Way Saturday, Aug. 16, at 12:30 p.m.

Those who cannot attend the meeting are encouraged to fill out a survey online in English at  https://forms.office.com/g/3RHw4QRAL4  or in Spanish at  https://forms.office.com/g/98BTwCexRJ. Learn more at https://bit.ly/4lBeSm1.

All are encouraged to reach out to Helana Ruter (city) or Jennifer Levstik (WestLand) with questions, comments or concerns. Ruter can be contacted at helana.ruter@phoenix.gov and Levstik at jlevstik@westlandresources.com.
