The Phoenix Fire Department’s Lockbox Program helps first responders get into your home quickly during an emergency – without breaking down a door or damaging property. The department says that this is especially important for seniors, people with disabilities and anyone who lives alone.
Entry is gained by utilizing a key that the resident provides in a secure lockbox attached to their entryway. This program not only provides free lockboxes to those vulnerable Phoenix residents; it also allows those who already have their own lockbox in place to register their lockbox code with the fire department.
Free lockboxes are donated by Phoenix REALTORS and are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis to vulnerable Phoenix residents who are aged 55 and older, have special needs, or mobility issues.
In her October newsletter, District 5 Councilmember Betty Guardado announced the relaunch of the Lockbox Program – now with materials and outreach available in Spanish, “Together, we’re making Phoenix safer and more inclusive – one home at a time,” she said.
