After the initial national recruitment did not result in the selection of a candidate, the Phoenix Police Department restarted the process of looking for a new chief in April.

The first round of interviews is expected to begin this month and a Police Chief Candidate Forum, which is open to the public, is scheduled for 5 p.m., Monday, June 16, in the Phoenix City Council Chambers. Virtual options will be available.

The city hopes to announce the new chief in July. Residents who would like to learn more about the process, or submit candidate interview questions for the public forum, should visit www.phoenix.gov/pdchiefrecruitment.
