The city of Phoenix is accepting applications for its Youth & Education Commission, a diverse group of education advocates, leaders and youth passionate about advancing educational access and achievement across the city.
Youth members are selected for their commitment to public service, proven efforts in driving community impact and their potential to further advocate for equitable education. High school, college and homeschooled students aged 16-24 who live or attend school in Phoenix are encouraged to apply. The commission strongly encourages youth from historically underrepresented areas to apply.
During their term, members will collaborate – both virtually and in-person – with education leaders, city officials and fellow youth representatives. Together they will design and implement initiatives to promote educational equity and achievement within the community. Council members are expected to attend monthly council meetings and quarterly youth sessions.
Applications are now open online. Applicants must create an account on the City of Phoenix’s Boards and Commissions page (https://boards.phoenix.gov) before inputting their information under the “Profile” tab. Applicants should mark their interest as Phoenix’s Youth & Education Commission under the “Interested Boards” section of the Profile tab.
