For those procrastinators among us, the city of Phoenix can help take the stress and expense out of filing 2025 taxes. The city’s Volunteer Income Tax Program (VITA) has options for filing taxes for free. Through the program, volunteers will help ensure taxpayers income, deductions and allowable credits are claimed.

There are three ways to file taxes:

  • Do-it -yourself – prepare your own state and federal tax returns using free online software and get help from a VITA tax volunteer. This option is for individuals and families who make less than $89,000/year.
  • In-person assistance – make an appointment to work with an IRS-certified tax preparer to get your returns filed for individuals and families who make less than $69,000/year.
  • com – complete your own taxes for free online at home using a self-paced, step-by-step guide to file your returns. IRS-certified tax volunteers are available to help through online chat.

The deadline to file your taxes is Wednesday, April 15. Visit www.phoenix.gov/taxhelp to learn more or make an appointment.
