North Central Phoenix just got a whole lot cooler. Tropical Sno & Creamery, a new locally owned shop serving refreshing shave ice and rich, creamy ice cream, has officially opened to the neighborhood – and the warm welcome from the community has been nothing short of heart-melting, the owners say.
Nestled right in the heart of North Central at 1219 E. Glendale Ave., Tropical Sno & Creamery opened its doors over Memorial Day weekend, offering Valley residents a taste of classic Hawaiian-style shave ice alongside premium national award-winning ice cream sourced from Phoenix’s own Karen’s Kreamery.
Owners Andrew and Shannon Klemmer, and Susie Grue are longtime North Central residents. After years working in education, they decided to shift gears and bring their dream to life: a place where local families can create sweet, lasting memories over cold treats.
“We’ve always loved the energy of this neighborhood and wanted to create something that brings people together,” the owners said. “We’re excited to serve our community and bring something fresh, fun and family-friendly to the area.”
In addition to dozens of flavor combinations, dairy-free options, and the perfect pairing of shave ice and ice cream, the shop also features a surprise favorite for kids: Mango, a bright blue animatronic parrot with plenty of personality.
“Mango’s already become a hit,” they said. “He’s part mascot, part entertainer!”
Whether residents are looking to cool off on a hot Phoenix afternoon or just need a quick smile and a sweet treat, Tropical Sno & Creamery is quickly becoming a go-to spot for families, teens, and anyone craving a taste of summer. To learn more, visit www.tropicalsnophx.com.
