Trellis, formerly Neighborhood Housing Services of Phoenix, a nonprofit dedicated to making stable homes and communities possible by educating, building and lending, is offering veterans a no-cost Homebuyer Education (HBE) workshop, valued at $300.

With the economy finally stabilizing, mortgage rates low and credit loosening, there has never been a better time to buy. Trellis would like to help start veterans on their way by offering this free 8-hour, intensive workshop set for 8:30 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, May 23 at the Trellis offices, 1405 E. McDowell Road.

This class demystifies the often complicated process of buying a home. Subjects covered include homeownership readiness and affordability; money and credit management; types of properties and financing available; purchase, mortgage and closing processes; and home maintenance and financial management.

In order to qualify for this offer, veterans must complete an initial 1:1 pre-purchase housing counseling session with one of Trellis’ trained Homeownership Advisors.

For those who can’t make the all-day workshop, individual sessions will be scheduled in June for topics related to Money Management, Credit, and more. See the website for details.
