Pleased with the overwhelming transformation that Arizona Opera has achieved in just 12 months, an anonymous donor announced a $500,000 matching challenge grant today with a deadline of June 30 in order to claim the gift.

The goal of the challenge is to raise an additional $500,000 by the end of the opera’s fiscal year on June 30. Any new or increased donation to Arizona Opera over and above an annual gift may be applied to the challenge.

Arizona Opera recently announced its new 2014-15 Season including the world’s first Mariachi opera, “Cruzar la Cara de la Luna,” a new production of the Tchaikovsky masterpiece “Eugene Onegin,” and crowd-pleasing masterpieces of “Rigoletto,” “The Magic Flute” and “The Daughter of the Regiment.”

Those interested in contributing to challenge grant may do so online at www.azopera.org or by calling Mark Saville, associate director of development, at 602-218-7337.
