The North Mountain Visitor Center, 12950 N. 7th St., hosts volunteer-led, family-friendly hikes for all ages toward the base of Shaw Butte, beginning at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13.

Some of the hikes will go only as far as the dam north of Shaw Butte and for young children only as far as the wetland area west of the Visitor Center. One hike will go to the top of Shaw Butte. Volunteers from the center will lead the hikes. Register at the front desk earlier in the week or by 8:15 a.m. the morning of; hikes leave from the Exhibit Hall.

Afterward, gather in the Exhibit Hall at 10 a.m. and enjoy a sing-along of favorite holiday tunes, featuring the musical talents of Eric Laubach with harmonica player Linda Bedore.

Other activities will include a surprise visit from Santa Claus for the little hikers at the center starting at 11 a.m.
