Going into its 75th year of operation, Desert Schools’ 2014 Community Service Scholarship program rewards exceptional Valley high school seniors and college freshmen dedicated to serving their communities.

Ranging from $2,500 to $10,000, a limited number of scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors and college freshmen. In order to qualify for one of the scholarships, the students must be able to illustrate perseverance in their ongoing education, and also demonstrate their commitment to serving the community. The student also must be a member, or the child or relative of a current member of Desert Schools Federal Credit Union.

High school seniors bound for an accredited two- or four-year Arizona college or university in fall 2014 qualify for the scholarship, provided they have completed at least 50 hours of community service between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2013.

Also available to college freshmen, Desert Schools provides scholarship opportunities to those who graduated high school in spring 2013 and have completed a minimum of 30 hours of community service between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2013.

All scholarship applications must be mailed and postmarked by March 4. For more information or to download an application, visit www.desertschools.org/scholarship or contact Lourdes Sierra at lourdes.sierra@desertschools.org.
