The AARP tax preparation service, TAX-AIDE, provides free tax returns and e-filing for seniors and low-income families. Volunteers are being sought for the 2016 tax season, to work one day a week from Feb. 1 through April 15 at the Sunnyslope Senior Center, 802 E. Vogel Ave.

The only qualifications volunteers need is a real willingness and interest in helping people, and a basic familiarity with Microsoft Windows. The program will train you how to interview taxpayers, help you understand the basics of Federal and State tax law, and instruct you to use tax preparation software.

Orientation meetings are scheduled 10 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 15 and 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 16 at the Sunnyslope Senior Center. The one-week training session for accepted volunteers will take place Jan. 4-9 at Paradise Valley Community College.

For more information or to RSVP for either orientation, contact Bob Beckis at 602-770-8680 or bobeckis@gmail.com.
