A new wine & beer bar located at 4750 N. Central Ave. has a name that usually makes newcomers ask: what does it mean?

Rott n’ Grapes is the brainchild of owners Patty Gii and Keith Shanks, who say the name symbolizes their love for Rottweilers and wine. “We have been extremely fortunate during the past 17 years to be proud parents of our favorite breed of dog, and not by coincidence, we rescued two Rottweilers from HALO Animal Rescue this past year,” Shanks explained.

To continue their support to the nonprofit animal rescue organization, Gii and Shanks late last year raffled off some of their Arizona Cardinals final game season tickets, raising $500 from Rott n’ Grapes patrons on behalf of HALO Animal Rescue. “We will continue to host various charity drives this upcoming year and look forward to continuing our support of HALO,” Gii said.

Rott n’ Grapes, located directly below Landmark Towers’ 17-story luxury condo building, has a chalkboard menu that boasts more than 80 wines and 60 craft beers. There also is a list of reserve wines and a tapas food menu. It is open daily at 3 p.m., and Happy Hour is available every night until 8 p.m., with select $3 beers and $5 glasses of wine. The bar usually closes at midnight Sunday-Thursday, and 2 a.m. Fridays and Saturdays. For more information, visit www.rottngrapes.com or call 602-888-1667.
