Desert Song Healing Arts Center, 3232 N. 20th St., hosts a Kids Camp from 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. June 12-16, for ages 5-10. Instructor Peri Miller teaches Mommy & Me Yoga at the center as well as Yoga for the Young and Restless.

The camp’s theme is “The Ocean Yoga Adventure,” spotlighting one of the most amazing places on Earth. The ocean is bursting with wildlife and filled with mysteries waiting to be solved.

“Flowing with the tide of life” will be among the week’s topics as children learn about what swims, flies, slithers and crawls in the vast oceans of the world. Each child will create a mixed-media work of art of his or her favorite ocean creature. These will be displayed as an exhibit at the studio following camp.

Participants also will learn how to breathe and flow “like the oceans waves.” This technique is a great coping skill for increased focus and managing stress. Poses such as sea turtle, dolphin, shark and starfish will lead the way for the week-long exposure to yoga asana practice. Poses also will be incorporated into ocean-themed yoga games and activities.

Cost is $165 per child and includes supplies for the artwork and a camp T-shirt. The camp is limited to 15 children and an application is required. Fee must be paid in full at time of registration. Call 602-265-8222.
