Are you a breast cancer survivor? Would you like to increase your feelings of well-being and your energy levels? ASU’s Recovery & Rejuvenation Study may be able to help.

You could be eligible to enroll in an 8-week series of free, 1-hour classes taught by ASU research staff. Classes including learning and practicing forms of gentle movement. These free classes will begin in Central Phoenix at the Cancer Support Community, 360 E. Palm Lane, on Monday mornings, starting Feb. 4.

“Evidence-based research has shown that gentle movement and peer support are both associated with significant benefits for cancer survivors during treatment and beyond,” said Dr. Linda Larkey, principal investigator for the ASU research study. “We are hoping to learn why that might be, and which approach is most beneficial.”

To compensate women for taking the time to help the team advance science, participants will receive up to $70 in gift cards after completing the study. Participants are asked to visit ASU’s downtown campus twice to participate in “before the 8-week classes” and “after the 8-week classes” evaluations.

Women between the ages of 45 and 75 who meet the following criteria are eligible to learn more about the study:

  • Stage 0 to Stage III breast cancer survivor
  • At least 6 months, up to 10 years, past primary treatment
