The Urban Farm, 6750 N. 13th Place, will host free tours of the 1/3-acre property on Oct. 5 and Oct. 6.

The Urban Farm, which is the home of Greg Peterson, boasts more than 70 fruit trees, rainwater and greywater harvesting, a (primarily) edible landscape, chickens, and two different kinds of solar panels. It is Phoenix’s first environmental showcase urban farm.

Experience firsthand some of the many things that you can do to live a more environmentally friendly life. Peterson will give guided tours through the property and cover many different aspects of turning an urban property into a food forest.

This is a free tour with a requested $10 donation. The tour starts at 9 a.m. on Friday, and 8:30 or 10 a.m. on Saturday. Tours will last approximately 90 minutes, including time for questions.

This is an outdoor event; bring water, wear sun protection and wear comfortable shoes. Street parking only, so be mindful of neighbors and carpool, bike or rideshare if possible. For more information, visit www.urbanfarm.org.
