A former tennis star is trying his hand at a different type of field – owning a massage and facial spa.

Jack Snyder plans to open a Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa at 742 E. Glendale Ave., Suite 166, in January. Hand & Stone offers hot stone, Swedish, deep tissue, sports and many other types of massages, along with a variety of facials and hair removal services and a membership program that includes monthly treatments.

Snyder, who has been playing tennis since he could walk, was a four-time All-State in high school and a state champion his senior year. He played competitive club tennis at Loyola University Chicago. He plays tennis twice a week, holding a 5.0 USTA rating. He also taught tennis for eight years.
