The Intensive Care Unit (ICU) nurses from Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, Long Island, New York recently sent care packages to the ICU nurses at Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital. The packages included snacks, facial masks, eye bag patches, markers, coffee and oatmeal, aimed at easing the nurses’ stress. Hospitals in Arizona have been managing an increased patient census during the Coronavirus crisis.

The packages came about because an Abrazo nurse who came to the Phoenix hospital from New York is friends with a nurse in New York whose team put together the packages. Abrazo Arizona Heart Hospital ICU staff nurse Tim Eisemann said the whole Phoenix ICU team is “deeply grateful” to his friend and her colleagues for sending the gifts as COVID-19 has generated “great stress and anxiety” among the nurses.
