The city of Phoenix Street Transportation Department is urging people to be alert and watch out for those who are on the roads but not in vehicles.

It kicked off a new public service announcement (PSA) – Scan the Street for Wheels and Feet. This animated video urges everyone to pay attention to anyone using Phoenix streets who is not driving a vehicle. Residents walk, run, as well as use wheelchairs and other mobility devices, ride bicycles, push strollers and ride scooters on Phoenix streets.

Street Transportation Department director Kini Knudson said the department is working to enhance safety through engineering by implementing HAWK signals, flashing pedestrian beacons and high-visibility crosswalks. But the city also wants to influence residents’ behavior through PSAs.
