Ed the Hyena is a domestic, medium-hair, one-year-old cat who was shy but blossomed once the Arizona Humane Society took him in. He and many other pets are available for adoption (photo courtesy of Arizona Humane Society).

Handsome, one-year-old, domestic medium-hair Ed the Hyena was shy early on while living in his previous home but the Arizona Humane Society is hoping he will come out of his shell in his new surroundings.

He was named after the quirky Disney character in “The Lion King” but you may call him Ed for short. This kitty has blossomed in a big way since being taken in by the Arizona Humane Society after the organization said his previous caretakers could no longer offer him the type of home he deserves.

This fun feline’s story is a good reminder to have a plan in place for your pets in case of any emergencies. The Arizona Humane Society recommends everyone have a conversation with friends and family members and to be prepared for any long or short-term situation that might require them to give up their pets. The Pet Resource Center of the Arizona Humane Society also is a good resource to gather ideas and information on how to cope with caring for animals during difficult times.

While all Arizona Humane Society adoption locations are temporarily closed, its Virtual Adoption Matchmaker Program is available to place Ed and other pets in “fur-ever” homes. Ed’s pet number is 636632. Ed might have been adopted by the time you meet with the Virtual Adoption Matchmaker, but the Arizona Humane Society has dozens more other pets who also are seeking loving homes.
