Dunkin’ suspended all in-store eat-in capability by removing tables and chairs from all its restaurants, including outdoor patios. Starbucks has closed stores around the country and Canada for in-store drinking/dining but customers can still buy drinks and food at the registers and drive-thrus. Dunkin’ and Starbucks have taken steps to try to reduce health risks for employees and the public. Dave Hoffmann, CEO for Dunkin’ Brands, said the restaurants have increased standards on the frequency of hand washing and cleaning methods, including disinfecting high-use surfaces and high-traffic areas. Social distancing is encouraged in its restaurants. Starbucks has modified its condiment bars in all stores and are allowing workers to wear gloves.
