Banner Health is offering help to anyone who believes they might have the Coronavirus.

If you believe you might have symptoms of  COVID-19 or you are concerned you may have been exposed to the virus, you may call Banner Health at 1-844-549-1851 to talk to a clinical team member to determine if testing is appropriate. Employees will be answering this line from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays and 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Fridays.

A Banner healthcare provider will determine whether someone needs to be tested based on phone screenings. Individuals may not request the test and only will be tested if they meet certain testing criteria. No walk-ins will be allowed at the drive-through sites. You must make an appointment.

If you meet the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention criteria to be tested, you will be scheduled for an appointment at one of Banner’s new drive-through sites. Banner has three sites in the Valley and one in Tucson with several more planned to open at a later date.

During the drive-through appointment, patients will be asked to stay inside their vehicles and will receive paperwork to complete. The paperwork includes confirmation saying patients agree to be tested and will self-isolate until Banner contacts them to reveal their test results. A Banner team member will swab inside the patient’s nose to collect a sample. Once the test is done, the patient will be told to go home and isolate until they are contacted with the rest results. If the test results are negative, the patient will be told they may return to their normal daily activities, as long as they are asymptomatic. They should stay home if they still are sick.

Banner Health has banned visitors in any of its locations, with some exceptions, because of the COVID-19 outbreak. Pediatric patients that are under age 18 may have one adult visitor with them in Banner Health facilities. Laboring mothers may have one support person with them.
