If you or someone you know is 60 years old or older and struggling with compulsive object hoarding, there is a group that may help.

The Area Agency on Aging’s 14-week Too Many Treasures Hoarding Therapy Group offers therapy to Maricopa County residents 60 and older who are willing to self-identify and commit to tackling the disorder. The free, voluntary sessions meet at confidential locations in Central Phoenix.

Group members will spend 90 minutes engaging in activities with others and must complete home assignments. A licensed professional counselor moderates the sessions, which cover understanding the causes of hoarding disorder and learning techniques to identify obstacles and tools to help decluttering or acquiring; discovering new ways to change unhelpful behavior and learning techniques to avoid recurrences and to maintain progress made.
