Children and teens, as well as their family members can explore karate in classes offered by the city of Phoenix.

Karate – Youth Ages 6-13, will be held from 4 to 4:45 p.m. on Saturdays from Nov. 6 to Dec. 18 at Longview Neighborhood Recreation Center at 4040 N. 14th St. This program is available for youths of all skill levels. Students will learn this martial art in a fast-paced, high-energy class in which safety is stressed. Students also will learn a system of verbal defense and setting boundaries when they are being bullied.

This class costs $50 and there were several openings remaining, as of press time. Students and others are required to wear a mask or face covering when inside this center and all city facilities, regardless of their vaccination status, as the city of Phoenix follows Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines to try to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
