At eight years old, Esteban is a handsome senior pup who has been through quite a bit prior to being rescued by the Arizona Humane Society (AHS) late last year. Found as an injured stray in December 2021, this cute boy had major injuries to his head that needed immediate medical attention.

Once in AHS’ animal trauma hospital, it turned out that Esteban’s injuries were serious enough to require surgery. It was determined by the veterinarians that his eyes were beyond saving but this extremely resilient angel has adjusted very well to life without sight.

Pets like Esteban may have some characteristics that make them different than other pets, but they are just as capable of living a great life as their furry companions. Although some adjustments may need to be made, these pets are full of so much love and are just as deserving of receiving love from their families.

Although he is a little chihuahua, Esteban has a huge appetite and always perks up when his favorite treat, shredded chicken, is around. Because of his history as a stray, not much is known about this loving boy so an introduction to the whole family would be best to allow him to adjust to his new home at his own pace.

Esteban’s animal number is 683314. AHS’ Virtual Adoption Matchmaking Program by appointment is available to place pets, like the handsome Esteban, with their forever families. While Esteban may have already been adopted by the time of a matchmaking appointment, AHS has dozens more wonderful pets who also need loving homes. Interested adopters are encouraged to take a moment to meet some of the dogs, cats and other companion animals at the shelter, or view available pets on the Adopt pages on the website.
