Known for its toasted, round and sealed sandwiches, Zookz recently opened a new location in the Biltmore Plaza on the northwest corner of 32nd Street and Camelback Road.

“After losing our airport and downtown locations during COVID, we are thrilled to be growing again,” said owner, Carole Meyer.

“Although the pandemic dealt us quite a blow, our flagship location in Uptown Plaza at Central and Camelback has done more than survive. Its dynamic growth over the past 12 months gave us the confidence to launch our new Biltmore location. We could not be more excited.”

Zookz sandwiches opened at Uptown Plaza in 2016, garnering rave reviews, including earning five consecutive best sandwich awards from Phoenix Magazine.

The sandwiches are made with a special press designed and patented by Meyer. This unique press enables multiple ingredients to be carefully layered inside a round sandwich with a toasted, crunchy exterior and a warm interior full of ingredients with a variety of flavors and textures.

The owners said that two of the more popular items are #33, a breakfast sandwich that features two poached eggs, Parmesan and feta cheeses, fresh spinach, basil and tomatoes; and #10, a turkey sandwich with apples, cranberries, roasted almonds and sweet mustard sauce.

A desert sandwich is even offered and includes Nutella, peanut butter, bananas and roasted almonds. Gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan options also are available, and all salads are freshly prepared and come with a variety of proprietary, house-made dressings.

Zookz Biltmore, located at 3164 E. Camelback Road,. is open daily from 7 a.m.–3 p.m. for dine-in, take-out, curbside and catering. Four take-out parking spaces are located within feet of the front entrance.
