The Sunnyslope neighborhood announced that its 3rd Annual Slope Holiday Market will take place from 2-8 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. This festive event has become a hallmark of community spirit in an area that organizers say is often overlooked by greater Phoenix.
Starting at 10 a.m., Hatcher Road will close to traffic from Central Avenue to 7th Avenue, transforming the street into a vibrant marketplace. Local artisans, small businesses, community groups and an international market will showcase their unique offerings in booths lining the road. Attendees can indulge in local flavors at the OHSO and North Mountain Brewing Company’s beer garden, along with a diverse selection of food vendors.
Children will have a blast engaging with a variety of interactive art activities, including ornament-making and collaborative mural painting. Plus, Santa will be on hand to spread holiday cheer.
As the sun sets, the Spirit of Sunnyslope will come alive with a dazzling holiday parade featuring over 25 floats from local organizations and businesses, including the enchanting Sunnyslope Crystal Princess.
“Despite the challenges faced by the neighborhood, the Slope Holiday Market stands as a testament to Sunnyslope’s unity and ongoing positive transformation,” said Caroline Lobo, Hatcher Urban Businesses (HUB). “This event is not just a holiday celebration; it embodies the true spirit of the Sunnyslope community.
Organized by HUB, with generous support from HonorHealth, the City of Phoenix Neighborhood Services Department, Council District 3, Fry’s and several Hatcher Road businesses, the market invites all of Phoenix to join in the festivities and experience the vibrancy of this remarkable community.
In advance of the celebration, area neighbors are invited to a Hatcher Road clean-up event, Saturday, Dec. 7, 9 a.m. to noon. Meet at HonorHealth, 3rd Street and Hatcher.
