Troop 41 of the Scouting America Grand Canyon Council will hold its annual Christmas tree lot once again this year at 1104 E. Northern Ave. in Phoenix. The lot opens on Black Friday and will continue a 75-year tradition that has spanned generations.

This year’s lot will include fresh cut trees from a small farm in Molalla, Oregon. And, despite price increases in the industry, the Scouts will keep prices low while providing a wide selection of trees for Valley residents along with holiday wreaths and supplies.

“This tree lot has been a valuable part of teaching the Scouts the importance of hard work and entrepreneurship,” said Brian Cook, Scoutmaster for Troop 41. “It reinforces many of the values the Boy Scouts are all about while providing a valuable community service for Valley residents.”

The lot will be staffed by the more than 30 scouts in Troop 41 ranging from ages 11-17 and living in the North Central Phoenix area. Parents and scouts will contribute more than 2,000 volunteer hours this season to operate the tree lot – and many of the Scouts who participate receive a Salesmanship/Entrepreneurship badge as a result.

The Scouts hope to raise more than $20,000 from the lot this season to fund their trips. And while some Valley families have been shopping at the lot for decades on end, the Scouts encourage early purchases due to the shortage of trees nationwide.

The lot is open Nov. 29 from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., then from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. on weekdays and 9:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. on weekends. The lot also offers Christmas tree supplies to keep the trees healthy. For more information, visit https://bsatroop41az.org.
