Valley diners can help raise funds for Waste Not by participating in the Pita Jungle “Empty Bowls” fundraiser through December (submitted photo).
This winter, Pita Jungle will host the return of its “Empty Bowls” fundraiser through which guests can purchase hand-crafted clay bowls created by local artisans to benefit Arizona nonprofit Waste Not, a nonprofit whose mission is creating sustainable food systems that help people and the planet flourish.
Beginning Friday, Nov. 29, through December (while supplies last), Pita Jungle will sell a limited number of Empty Bowls at participating locations across Arizona and 100 percent of proceeds will benefit the nonprofit. Each bowl costs $20 and with the purchase, guests will receive a hand-crafted bowl created by artists from the Arizona Clay Association and their choice of a free small dip or cup of soup for dine-in or takeout. For many, these bowls will add to a personal collection from previous years’ fundraisers or will be a one-of-a-kind gift this holiday season.
Every dollar donated to Waste Not (www.wastenotaz.org) directly supports its dedication to creating sustainable food systems that eliminate food waste and hunger. Through innovative partnerships throughout the community, Waste Not was able to rescue nearly 2.5 million pounds of food in 2023. Through the partnership with the Arizona Clay Association, the Empty Bowls event benefits a network of over 85 nonprofit agencies that Waste Not partners with to eliminate food waste and hunger.
