Hello, North Central neighbors!

First held April 22, 1970, Earth Day is an annual event that aims to educate and mobilize the global population toward taking positive action to protect the Earth.

With that in mind, I focused closer to home for our cover story, speaking to Joshua Uebelherr with the city’s Office of Environmental Programs as they update the Phoenix Climate Action Plan.

Also on the cover, I caught up with Michael Robert, superintendent for the Osborn School District, who talked to us about how changes at the federal level are impacting local schools.

In Food for Thought, Marjorie Rice catches up with Chris Nelson at Nelson’s Meat + Fish for this month’s Café Chat, and we bring you news on openings, celebrations and transitions at local dining establishments. Speaking of which, Title 9 Sports Grill is now open in Melrose – read the story in Business.

Over in Community Pets, you can read about our April Arizona Humane Society Pet of the Month, the beautiful Bonnie, and meet our featured North Central pet, Daisy. So far we’ve featured all cats – do we have any dog lovers out there? Send us your pet story!

You will also find other community, business and school news, as well as our round-up of things to do in the Valley this month in Arts & Entertainment.

We hope that you enjoy our April issue, and until next month, all my best,
