In late January, Maricopa County Animal Care & Control announced that 600 lost pets had entered their shelters since the new year. This is one reason that they have partnered with Petco Love Lost to make it easier to reunite families with their lost pets.
Pets are an important part of many families, and when they go missing, it can be stressful and heartbreaking. According to Petco Love Lost, one in three pets will go missing in their lifetime – but there is a new tool to help find them. The county partnered with Petco Love Lost as its reporting database for lost and found pets.
To enhance its effectiveness and reunite more pets with their owners, other organizations in Maricopa County, such as Arizona Humane Society, Arizona Animal Welfare League (AAWL) and HALO, also are now primarily using Petco Love Lost as their lost pet reporting database. The county said that 96 percent of users recommend the tool and there are more than 2,900 shelters that are now using this system, which has resulted in more than 52,000 reunions across the U.S.
