The Maricopa County Animal Care and Control’s Tails Around Town program offers an opportunity for animal lovers to take a dog on a “field trip.”

Volunteers can sign up to take a dog on a day-long adventure and give them a much-needed break from the shelter. The program also helps the dogs be seen and allows the county to learn more about them to help find their perfect forever home. In turn, this is a way for the community to get involved and help shelter dogs.

Tails Around Town is offered at the West (2500 S. 27th Ave., Phoenix) and East (1920 S. Lewis, Mesa) shelters. Appointments will become available 60 days in advance. If no appointments are available, check back daily for more time slots. If the appointment slot you want is full, check back the night before and morning of – spots open up due to cancellations
