What began as a personal crisis for a son caring for his mother with dementia has turned into a transformative solution for seniors and their families in Phoenix.

Nearly 20 years ago, Tolga Kuru’s mother – a confident doctor and educator – suffered a stroke, sparking a journey of caregiving that would eventually lead to the creation of the Vintage Silver Center.

After struggling to find a facility offering the level of care and engagement he sought for his mother, he and his friend Brittany Jones, a social work expert, decided to build one. The result is a unique recreational day program that enhances seniors’ quality of life from a recreational therapy foundation. Located in Central Phoenix, the center’s goal is to offer a safe, supportive environment where seniors can stay active, make new connections and engage in meaningful activities tailored to their interests.

Vintage Silver Center is located at 3909 N. 16th St. For additional information, call 602-492-2170 or visit www.vintagesilvercenter.org.
