Hello, North Central Neighbors! This month, we are exploring the past, the present and the future of our area.
On the cover, we take a look at the Northern Avenue Safety Collaboration, a pilot program that could have implications in other Phoenix communities. We also catch up with members of the Brophy Native American Club as they set out to run 230 miles to advocate for respecting the past and the future preservation of Arizona’s Oak Flat.
Also, this month, we chat with members of the Union Jack Chapter of the Daughters of the British Empire [see page 2 ]. Ranging in age from 14 to 98, they share their history, dating back to 1946 Phoenix, and what the future of the service organization may look like. We also provide an update on the redevelopment of the Metrocenter area [see page 26 ].
In this month’s Café Chat, Marjorie Rice sits down with Nadia Holguin from Tacos Chiwas and explores her roots in Chihuahua, Mexico, and the flavors that inform the menu at the North Central restaurant [see page 41].
