After Walgreens closed its doors in February 2024, a new tenant is set to open this year at 8911 N. 7th Street: Harbor Freight.

Founded in 1977 as a small mail-order tool business in Southern California, the retailer now offers an assortment of tools, including automotive, air and power tools, storage, outdoor power equipment, generators, welding supplies, shop equipment, hand tools, and much more.

Construction has already begun at the location, using local workers and companies from the surrounding Phoenix area, the company said.

“We’ve been looking to open another location in Phoenix for a number of years so that we can provide the tools and equipment at tremendous values to the community,” said Trey Feiler, senior vice president, Real Estate and Construction for Harbor Freight. “In addition to finding a great location, we were attracted by the availability of great associates in the Phoenix area, and we look forward to having them join the Harbor Freight team.”

Anticipated to open towards the end of January, the store is expected to bring between 25 and 30 new jobs to the community, including sales and logistic supervisors, senior associates, sales Associates, and seasonal opportunities as well.
