Parents with children entering kindergarten this fall are invited to join a Kindergarten Bootcamp at Burton Barr Central Library or Washington Activity Center.
This interactive series meets once a week for seven weeks and gives families a taste of kindergarten. Parents/caregivers and children learn together the social, academic and classroom skills needed for school success. Families will receive free tools and activities each week leading up to Bootcamp graduation.
Registration is required and by registering participants agree to attend all seven weeks. The next series meets on the following dates: April 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 and May 6, 13. Burton Barr will offer both afternoon and evening programs; the Washington Activity Center program is held in the evening. An evening online series is also offered on the same dates.
This program is only for children entering kindergarten in fall 2026. Other children may want to check out Tools for School, a school readiness program for three- five-year-olds and their grown-ups.
Support for early literacy programs is provided by a grant from First Things First, which partners with families and communities to give all Arizona children the opportunity to arrive at kindergarten healthy and ready to succeed.
