Vintage Partners, the Arizona-based commercial real estate development and investment company, announced the addition of Kylie & Ryan Durkin of Modern Manor to the ongoing redevelopment efforts at Uptown Plaza, the landmark 1950s era shopping center at the northeast corner of Central Avenue and Camelback Road.

Started in late 2014, this property-wide renovation will restore the stylish, brick-lined mid-century modern look to this iconic shopping center constructed in 1955 by the Del Webb Co. as the Valley’s first retail center located outside of downtown Phoenix. Owners of the popular Phoenix furniture design boutique, Modern Manor, the Durkins are experts in all things mid-century and, of course, modern. At Uptown Plaza, they focused on restoring the center’s signature 1950s style, while still making it relevant and inviting for today’s shoppers.

“This project is a rare find to mid-century fan boys like us,” says Ryan Durkin. “We’re looking at incorporating some of our favorite designs from the ’50s into the center’s ecosystem.”

Scheduled for completion in fall 2015, with additional tenants to be announced in April, Phase 1 of the Uptown Plaza restoration is well underway. For more information, visit www.uptownplazaphx.com.
