The Washington Elementary School District Business Advisory Team hosts retired Phoenix Police Officer Jason Schechterle at its next meeting, set for 9-11 a.m. Wednesday, April 23 at the WESD Administration Center, 4650 W. Sweetwater Ave.

On the fateful night of March 26, 2001, Schechterle, then a rookie Phoenix police officer, was severely burned after his squad car was struck from behind and the gas tank exploded. More than 12 years later, through a series of big and small miracles, Schechterle now travels the country serving as a motivational speaker, sharing his story of hope and optimism. He also is the subject of a biography, “Burning Shield: The Jason Schechterle Story,” by Landon J. Napoleon, (available on Amazon.com.)

The Business Advisory Team was formed to develop, enhance and maintain mutually supportive, strategic relationships between WESD and its surrounding business community. RSVPs requested to jill.hicks@wesdschools.org.
